About Us

Kincardine Lodge, built in 1908 by a sea captain, still retains many of its original features with two stunning fireplaces of the “Arts and Crafts” era.  The unusual front door and surrounding painted glass panels with echoes of Charles Rennie Mackintosh welcomes your arrival, and the characteristic woodwork is replicated in the staircases, galleried landing and throughout the house.

Kincardine Lodge has a variety of rooms ranging from double and twin rooms with ensuite facilities, to twin or family rooms with shared use of bathroom.  The prime suites have stunning views of the loch and hills and across the Kilbrannan Sound to Kintyre, Loch Fyne and Argyll – a definite “WOW” factor.

Visitors are often content to sit in the lovely garden setting and watch as another yacht slips into the magical bay, or gaze at the amazing sunsets for which Arran is famous.  Dolphins are regular visitors to the bay and you may be fortunate enough to see whales or a basking shark.

Each bedroom is equipped with colour television; hospitality tray; a hairdryer, wash hand basin or ensuite facilities.  The house has full central heating for the cooler months with heated towel rails in all ensuites and bathroom.

Located thirty minutes from Brodick and only a five minute’s walk from the Lochranza to Claonaig ferry this is an ideal position for touring the West Coast of Scotland or “island hopping” to Gigha, Islay, Jura and the Hebrides.  Evening meals may be enjoyed at a variety of hotels and restaurants throughout the island, but if you wish to eat closer to home the Lochranza Hotel is only three houses away. Lochranza Distillery, Scotland’s newest independent distillery established in 1996, is only 20 minutes walk and has a tea room and restaurant.

Whether you enjoy hill walking, cycling, climbing, pony trekking, ornithology, geology, golf; trying to glimpse golden eagles, otters, seals, red deer or the native red squirrel, Kincardine Lodge is the ideal location from where to enjoy your holiday.  Jean and Andy personally welcome you to their family home offering a memorable holiday in a stunning setting.

Situated in the heart of Lochranza the prestigious Edwardian Villa offers comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation in a family setting amidst breathtaking views of Lochranza’s 13th century Castle and across the Kilbrannan Sound to Kintyre and Argyll.

Guests are invited to relax in their own sitting room overlooking the bay, and browse through the extensive collection of books and maps covering Arran’s history, villages, walks of varying abilities, geology, nature and birdlife.  A variety of books, videos, playing cards, board games and jig-saw puzzles are also available for those quieter moments, with musical guests welcome to play our piano.

This is served in a delightful sunny dining room with views to the sea and the hill behind the house, where red deer are regular morning visitors.
Guests may choose from a wide selection of fruit juices, fruit, yoghurt and cereal, followed by traditional bacon and egg, or simply croissants or toast.  Whilst in Scotland the more adventurous may wish to try porridge and the famous Loch Fyne kippers – a local delight – caught just “over the water”.  In fact all our breakfast produce is either freshly provided by our village butcher or locally sourced wherever possible.  Please let us know if you have special dietary requirements.
